Congratulations to Aaron Oh for his recent achievement in the March ABRSM Practical Examinations. Aaron received a 140 (Distinction) for his Grade 1 piano.

Aaron took a few minutes from his daily practice routine to answer a few of our questions:

Before turning 6.

I am 7 years old now.

My mama brought me for piano lessons.
Q4. Tell us a little about your recent performing experience.
I felt nervous but I was excited about performing though.
Q5. What do you do when you get nervous before going on a stage?
I pray to God.
Q6. We know you play more than one instrument. How do you manage your academic work along with piano practice?
When I come back from school, I practice on my piano. When I’m tired doing school work, I also play on my piano to take a break from school work.
Q7. Who is your favourite composer?
Beethoven.
Q8. Do you have a favourite pianist?
I don’t really have any. But my mama showed me a Youtube video of The Yellow River, I like that pianist, I think his name is Lang Lang.
Q9. What have you learned in Aureus Academy?
My teacher emphasizes a lot on technics and dynamics.
Q10. Tell us something about your piano teacher at Aureus Academy.
I like my piano teacher Ms Karen! She makes the challenging technics easy to master. I like to hear her demonstrate the new pieces to me.
Q11. What are the cons/pros of playing the piano?
There are pedals, which I can play with, to make music more beautiful, especially the right pedal, it makes every note sounds so smooth. I like to watch the strings inside the piano move, though someone else must be playing while I watch.
Q12. Do you have a short/long term goal(s) for your musical journey?
Whenever I play the piano, my younger brother will stop crying!I also want to excel in my next ABRSM exam YAY! I want to be a doctor who plays piano, so that when my patients feel blue, i can cheer them up.
